Jul 20, 2012

The C5 Texas program is very pleased and excited to announce that RUSSELL MARYLAND has agreed to become the spokesperson for the C5 Youth Foundation of Texas.  Chuck Burkhart, president of C5 Texas reported: “We have been searching for some time to find and recruit the RIGHT person to help bring awareness to our program and be the RIGHT role model for the very special youth that make our program what it is.  I know that we have found the perfect person to do so in Russell”

To highlight some of Russell’s accomplishments, he is first and foremost a terrific person, married and the father of 3 who resides in Southlake, TX.  He is a graduate of the University of Miami where he was on 2 National Championship football teams 87 and 89.  He was a consensus All American in 1990, won the Outland Trophy and was named UPI Lineman of the year.  Equally important, he was inducted into the Iron Arrow Honor Society, which is the highest honor bestowed by the University on any student.   Russell, was not just the Number 1 draft choice of the Dallas Cowboys in 1991 but was the first player chosen in the N.F.L. draft.  He has been named ALL Pro and won 3 Super Bowls with the Cowboys XXVII, XXVIII,XXX.  Russell was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011.

Russell has been involved in numerous Foundations and Projects to help give opportunities to the young men and women of his hometown of Chicago.  We are excited and pleased that Russell has decided to help the C5 Texas team.  Russell spoke at the C5 Leadership Summit and Graduation and the Austin Shoot Out Golf Tournament and will be with us at the upcoming Golf Tournament in Dallas.  He looks forward to helping out with all other activities that can fit into his schedule.  As Russell told me, he moves thorough forward, just as we ask our Youth to do.  WELCOME ABOARD RUSSELL!
